CONMEBOL first federation to call for Gianni Infantino’s re-election as FIFA president

Gianni Infantino has been backed for re-election as FIFA president for a further four years by the entirety of the CONMEBOL council, making the South American football confederation the first to publicly call for another term for Infantino.

Infantino, 56, is yet to publicly or formally declare his intention to run again, but it is presumed that he will, considering the way he has reshaped FIFA in his image during his decade in power. He was re-elected unopposed in 2019 and 2023.
