Sioen textile factory reportedly closes without due ‘legal procedures’ leaving 250 workers unemployed; incl. co. non-response

In September 2025, it was reported that a Sioen textile factory in Tunisia suddenly closed, citing international competition and price pressure. According to the Tunisian General Labour Union, the decision to close the factory was made without respecting legal procedures, and management had reportedly dismissed alternative solutions, such as temporary layoffs or partial dismissals, to mitigate the impact on workers.

In January 2026, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Sioen to respond. It did not.
